Schedule Update 11/01/19: Off-Season/Winter Riding has begun November thru April: Wednesday's (under the lights) 5:00pm-8:00pm and Sunday's 1:00pm-4:00pm.
Winter Season at Empire Tryal Club: Winter can be long, but we find some riding helps make it seem a bit shorter. Some riders may loose their practice area due to deer season as well. Below is our plan for Fall, Winter, Spring until the 2020 events begin.
Continuing with the Wednesday night Mid-Week Ride (under the lights). We are also adding a Sunday Afternoon Ride at 1:00 for those who may prefer daytime with daylight and possibly somewhat warmer temps than evening. Keep in mind club members can ride here anytime as well, just give us a heads-up when you want to come.
Winter Riding at ETC:
Usually it is regulated somewhat by the weather. Over 20 degrees and under 24" of snow. Usually the two sections near the driveway get minimal snow and often we shovel them off a day prior to riding because the snow melts quickly on the concrete when the sun comes out. Novice-level sections can become quite challenging, excellent practice, and a lot of fun. Often our hillsides facing the south are bare in the winter as well.
The shop is always at 70 degrees or more, so a quick warm up for you or your bike is very easily accomplished. If you're a club member and plan on winter practice- another option is you can leave your bike at the shop so its warm when you start out and no worry about transporting on bad or salted roads.
One thing we know-----It's tough to convince yourself to ride sometimes in the colder weather...however we are always happy we did once we're out there---riding is riding and always a good time.
